Polaroid and transfer

Tuesday September 25, 2007 | by Alain Paris |

.jpgAt the era of the numerical whole it is sometimes interesting to return to processes known as “alternative” of type cianotype, gum dichromate… For some month I have chosen the handling of the Polaroid film, this form of mediums is rather original (negative polaroid for example for type 55) the transformations are multiple and numerous. I thus used my room MPP 4×5 and employed this famous film standard Pola 59 to carry out transfers of emulsion (not to be confused with transfer of image). I will not return in the technical details (much about very good Web sites speaks about it better than me), but it is rather brilliant, approximately one takes off in tepid water the film of film and one transfers it on any form of mediums. My part, I chose a thick paper watercolour of the Arche type. On this subject, I seek Polaroid films of the out-of-date type 55 and very type 59… While waiting I work my “cyanotype”, following the next episode…

- some Polaroid transfers on my site
- photo-photogravure very good site on the ignored processes (alternate, old…)
